The November 2023 Mariginiup Bushfire

The Mariginiup Bushfire impacted communities in Perth’s northern suburbs in late November 2023, burning through 1,900 hectares of land in four days, including residential and semi-rural areas and causing damage to properties, infrastructure and some forestry areas.

Following the emergency response, the City of Wanneroo led the recovery efforts with support from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and other state government agencies. The City of Wanneroo managed the Mariginiup Bushfire Coordinated Clean-up Program to make the area impacted by the bushfire safe. The Coordinated Clean-up Program was designed to support a community-led approach to recovery that enabled the management of environmental, health and safety risks to community, while maximising psychosocial and wellbeing benefits to eligible property owners or lessee’s.
