The February 2021 Wooroloo Bushfire

The Wooroloo Bushfire burnt more than 10,000 hectares and caused extensive damage to properties within the City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring in February 2021.

With the clean-up of damaged and destroyed properties completed by late 2021, on behalf of the State Government the Department of Fire and Emergency Services worked alongside the City of Swan, Shire of Mundaring, Department of Communities and Australian Red Cross to support communities to recover and rebuild.

The activation of the Wooroloo Bushfire State Recovery Coordination Group ensured equal and appropriate access to available recovery resources throughout the community.

During his term as State Recovery Controller, Dr Ron Edwards oversaw the provision of a range of targeted, meaningful and community-led recovery initiatives.

State Government coordinated recovery programs concluded on 30 January 2023 and activities are now being coordinated by impacted local governments.

More information about recovery programs, including clean-up and rebuild, wellbeing support and financial assistance, can be found in the Wooroloo Bushfire State Recovery Plan found below.
